From Website to Working Partnership: What Comes After Launch?

Launching a website can be the finish line. Sometimes, it’s just where the interesting part starts.

When Moonlit Hub launched the new website for Perry Venue, we’d accomplished what we initially set out to do: give the venue its own home online and build the tools Deep and Shelley needed to manage inquiries, bookings, events and the day-to-day information their customers need.

But there’s an obvious problem with even the best website in the world.

People have to know it’s there.

And more importantly, people have to know Perry Venue is there.

A Website Is a Beginning

For a local business, launching a website doesn’t magically make customers appear.

Perry Venue needs people planning birthday parties, showers, receptions, reunions, company gatherings and celebrations to discover the space. It needs photographs and information that show people what they can do with it. It needs reasons for someone to stop scrolling and think:

Wait. I could have my event there.

That’s where our relationship with Perry Venue started growing beyond simply designing and developing its website.

Moonlit Hub began helping with the next question:

Now that we built it, how do we get people through the door?

Taking the Same Brand Beyond the Website

Promotion works better when all the pieces actually belong together.

The website shouldn’t look like one company, the advertising like another and the graphics like somebody’s cousin made them at three o’clock in the morning.

So the work expanded.

Moonlit Hub began developing promotional graphics and advertising for Perry Venue, creating content for the website, coordinating campaigns and helping establish a consistent look and message wherever potential customers encounter the venue.

That combination is one of the advantages of having the same person involved in the website, graphic design and promotions.

When there’s something new to promote, we don’t have to explain the website to the graphic designer, send the graphics to the web developer and then explain the whole thing again to whoever is handling the promotion.

We already know the project.

Built to Keep Moving

It’s also one of the reasons we built Perry Venue’s website to be flexible in the first place.

Events change.

Promotions happen.

Announcements need to go up.

New photographs arrive.

Plans change.

And sometimes somebody comes up with an idea that needs to happen next week.

A small-business website needs to be able to keep up with the small business using it.

For Perry Venue, that meant our launch wasn’t really an ending at all.

It was the beginning of an ongoing partnership combining web design, custom development, hosting, graphic design and promotion—all working toward the same goal:

Getting more people to discover Perry Venue and imagine what they could do with the space.

And Then Things Got Interesting…

We didn’t have to wait long for our first chance to put all of that to the test.

Perry Venue had an available Saturday.

October 3.

Deep had an idea.

And we had roughly a week.

More on that in the next Moonlit Dispatch.
