What happens when your client discovers his new website is live before you even get the chance to tell him—and immediately decides it’s time to put it to work?
Apparently, you launch a promotional campaign.
Fast.
Not long after Moonlit Hub finished getting Perry Venue’s new website online, Deep discovered it was live before I had the opportunity to make the official “Hey, your website is ready!” announcement.
He was excited.
So excited, in fact, that he was already thinking about what Perry Venue could do next.
There was an open Saturday coming up on October 3, and Deep wanted to use it for the venue’s first promotional event.
There was just one tiny detail:
October 3 was the following Saturday.
Welcome to promotions.
Enter: Ballroom Blitz
With very little runway, Moonlit Hub went to work creating a campaign that could introduce more people to Perry Venue and give somebody a pretty terrific reason to experience the space for themselves.
The idea became Ballroom Blitz, a promotional giveaway offering one winner a free one-day Perry Venue rental.
But simply posting “Hey, want a free venue?” wasn’t much of a campaign.
We wanted to have some fun with it.
So we built anticipation around something called THE DROP.
Leading up to it, promotional posts introduced Ballroom Blitz, explained how the giveaway would work and encouraged people to follow along. When THE DROP appeared, the race was on for an eligible entrant to claim the prize.
Moonlit Hub created the campaign concept, promotional graphics and copy while Perry Venue’s new website provided an official home for the promotion and its rules.
Remember that part about the website needing to keep up with the business?
We got to test that theory almost immediately.
Not Every Promotion Ends the Way You Planned
Ballroom Blitz did not ultimately produce a qualified winner who collected the free rental.
That’s the less glamorous part of marketing that doesn’t always make it into the case studies.
You can build the campaign, create the graphics, establish the rules, put out the promotion—and the public still gets the final vote on what happens next.
That doesn’t automatically make the effort worthless.
People saw Perry Venue.
People learned that there’s an event space available right here in Perry.
The campaign gave us our first opportunity to begin putting the venue in front of a larger audience, and it taught us something we’ll carry into the next promotion.
And there will be a next promotion.
So, What Happens October 3?
The lack of a giveaway winner doesn’t mean October 3 has to be the end of the story.
Ballroom Blitz gave us an opportunity to introduce more people to Perry Venue, show off the space and start learning what gets the attention of the local community.
So we are taking it.
Swing on through and check it out Saturday, Oct 3rd, let us show you what we can do for you!
And that’s exactly what an early promotional campaign should do.
There will be more opportunities to see Perry Venue, more reasons to come through the doors and definitely more ideas coming from this partnership.
Ballroom Blitz may not have ended exactly as we planned.
But that’s part of building something new.
You try. You learn. You adjust. And you keep going.
Perry Venue is just getting started.
